Mother's Morning July 2024
Proudly supporting Alma Community Care
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28)
With the help of Hope for San Diego's "Day of Service" we had a wonderful “Mother’s Morning” on July 20 serving 37 mothers and over 20 children! Our mother’s and their children started lining up 20 minutes before we opened the doors which was so encouraging to see.
The morning was full of conversation, great food, relationship building, rest, and pampering for our mothers. They loved getting their nails painted, make-up done, painting and planting succulent pots, receiving free chiropractic adjustments and mini massages, while their children were having so much fun upstairs in our kid’s zone.
This was my second year serving at the Alma Community Care Mothers Day of Service. Carrie Anne Sandoval is so inspiring and uplifting in her desire to serve so many mothers with the love of Jesus by surrounding them with joy, beauty, nurturing community, and creativity. It is an honor to be able to witness that and to see that the number of participants and activities is growing quickly! It was heartwarming to see the women smiling, laughing and relaxing with time to pamper themselves over a wonderful breakfast buffet, cosmetic consultations, crafts, mani-pedi’s and even some chiropractic care. I was pleased to provide a mini “flower stand” that allowed each to create a small bouquet to carry home and enjoyed watching as they showed off their finished product. I also enjoyed talking with volunteers and getting a sense of how wide the community of volunteers extends and all the amazing talents that come with them. I find that experiences like this deepen my gratitude and grow my hope in the precious work God is doing in our city and in me! I hope to be able to participate again next year!
